We, at the department of Psychiatry are devoted to patients dealing with mental disorders or who are mentally unstable. We provide the best possible treatment, diagnosis and prevention of mental disorders. For this, we try to understand their mood, behavior, attitude, their experience, their senses, their perceptions, etc. 

The duration of getting them better takes time but we aim to make their mental health better and faster recovery. We keep a record of case studies of every patient and check their mental status examination regularly. We keep these for future purposes too. 

For more understanding of the patient, we conduct tests like physical examinations and psychological tests and if needed neuroimaging or neurophysiological techniques are used further. We also render medications and therapies for progress in a patient’s condition. 

The department of Psychiatry imparts treatment to both OPD(Out Patient Department) patients and IPD(In Patient Department) depending on how severe the mental condition is of the patient or the disorder is.

The department of Psychiatry came into existence in 2011 and has been functional since then. The department is currently managed by a Consultant, a Medical Officer & two trained Staff Nurses.

On an average, 35-40 OPD patients are handled per day including all major & minor mental disorders.
